The more general tagging program will enable users of Shorthorn genetics to identify their cattle as “SHORTHORN” and gain industry recognition.  There is no verfication of production specificaions asociated with these tags, but generally understood that they will be placed in animals of at least 50% Shorthorn genetics.  The tags will soon be available from Allflex, USA, Inc.  Producers can order blank visual ID tags, pre-printed tags or matched pairs with EID.  Allflex also maintains a website www.allflexlink.com, which allows users to look up EID numbers by a number on the bag.  Users can then easily print forms that allow them to match EIDs to the animals in which they are placed.
